„Prime“ marks the third full release of US Space Black Metalers Imperialist. Once again they‘re taking us on a journey to the stars and the grimdark future that might be awaiting us out there.
With their more modern take on Black Metal Imperialist manage to drag you into the dark realms of outer space. While the base consists of Black Metal with undeniable influences of Death and Thrash there‘s always space for melodies to break up the dark cold of space.
If there‘s one thing I like, then it‘s a band that sticks with the art of the guitar solo. By doing so, they‘re adding another layer of creativity to their already versatile style.
Charles Elliot has done a very good job producing this album. As much as I love a raw Black Metal record, the cleaner and powerful Production fits the Sci-Fi theme just perfectly.
If there is anything to criticise, it‘s the lack of variety in the song structures. But to be honest, we‘re still in the Black Metal genre, so the complaints, at least from my side, won‘t be too loud.
Imperialist are one of those Bands that stands out by going more creative ways, be it by adding more melodies or the guitar solos.
To me that‘s the way they should keep going.
